Notice of Rules for Election of Officers, Executive Board Members and CWA Convention Delegates for 2017
In accordance with the Article 25, “Elections,” Section 3, “Local Officers,” of the CWA Constitution, Article 11, “Duties of Officers,” Section 3, “Executive Board,” and Article 14, “Nominations and Elections,” Section 3, “Elections,” of the Bylaws of Local 6355, as amended, the Executive Board has authorized the following rules for the CWA Local 6355 Elections Committee to abide by in conducting elections for Local Officers, Executive Board members and CWA Convention Delegates.
Members are advised that nominations for all Local offices (President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer) and Executive Board members (Parkway Area Representative, Foster Care Area Representative, Department of Health and Senior Services Area Representative, Department of Social Services (DSS) Northern Missouri Area Representative, DSS Kansas City Area Representative, DSS Southwestern Missouri Area Representative, DSS Mid-Missouri Area Representative, DSS Southeastern Missouri Area Representative, DSS St Louis Area Representative) may be submitted by mail to a post office box secured for the Elections Committee by the Local between August 15, 2017 and September 5, 2017.
Nominations must be in writing, received at the Elections Post Office box no later than September 2, 2017 and contain the following information: (1) The name of the CWA Local 6355 member being nominated; (2) the office for which the member is being nominated; (3) the printed name and signature of at least two members of CWA Local 6355 in support of the nomination. The address to mail nominations to will be published online at www.cwa6355.org and on the CWA Local 6355 facebook page no later than August 15, 2017. The Elections Committee will open, review and announce the results of the nominations process on or about September 5, 2017. Challenges and certifications of nominations will be processed according to the Bylaws. Members duly nominated without opposition will be certified as elected by acclimation.
Ballots for any contested elections will be mailed to the address on file with Local 6355 of any member who may participate in the contested election. Ballots will be mailed as soon as possible after the conclusion of the challenge and certification period for nominations. Officer nominees must belong to a recognized bargaining unit or organizing campaign. These are DSS, DHSS, Parkway, Foster Care providers. Members wishing to vote in any contested election which they are eligible to participate in will need to mail their ballots so that they are received at the Elections Committee Post Office box no later than October 1, 2017. The Elections Committee will count the ballots for the election on October 1, 2017. If necessary, the Elections Committee will initiate any required run off elections as quickly as possible.
The term for all new officers and Executive Board members will begin on November 15, 2017.
